Crown Trade Full Undercoat is a high-quality solvent-based undercoat designed to be applied over properly prepared and primed joinery and metal as a basecoat for full gloss or eggshell finishes. It is the recommended undercoat for Crown Trade Full Gloss and other compatible Crown Trade topcoats, providing excellent adhesion, obliteration and a sound foundation for a uniform final finish.

Crown Trade Full Undercoat is well suited to doors, frames, skirtings, architraves, banisters, radiators, metal gates and railings, both inside and outside the home, where a long-lasting trim system is needed. It offers good wet edge retention and brushes out smoothly, and once dry it provides excellent opacity and maximum gloss hold-out so the topcoat finishes with consistent sheen across the full surface. Typical spreading rate is up to 18 m² per litre on smooth, non-absorbent surfaces; touch dry time is around 4–6 hours and the surface is recoatable after approximately 16 hours under normal conditions. Apply with a good-quality natural bristle brush or short-pile roller, working in manageable sections and laying off in one direction to avoid brush marks. Two thinly applied coats give better results than one thick coat. Because Crown Trade Full Undercoat is solvent-based, work in a well-ventilated room, keep lids tightly closed between coats, and clean tools with white spirit immediately after use. Store away from heat sources and out of reach of children.
