Douglas Patent Knotting – 500ml is made from pure shellac and methylated spirit. It seals the surface and prevents seepage of the resins in the timber so it is ideal for use on new or stripped wood prior to priming. Patent knotting is dark brown in colour and suitable for interior and exterior use.

Douglas Patent Knotting is made from pure shellac and methylated spirit. It seals the surface and prevents seepage of the resins in the timber so it is ideal for use on new or stripped wood prior to priming. Patent knotting is dark brown in colour and suitable for interior and exterior use.
A professional shellac-based solution for sealing knots and resinous areas of bare timber prior to the application of paints, waxes or polishes. Apply 1-2 coats and allow to dry between coats. When the area to be treated is to be over-coated with a water-based product, apply the patent knotting more sparingly and lightly abrade the surface to provide a key before over-coating. Clean brushes and equipment with Douglas Methylated Spirits.
