Sandtex Quick Dry Stabilising Solution is a clear, fast-drying primer that seals and stabilises chalky, weathered or friable exterior surfaces before painting. Brushed onto powdery masonry, render or stone, it binds the loose surface together and creates a sound, low-absorbency base for the topcoat to grip.

Sandtex Quick Dry Stabilising Solution is well suited to older exterior masonry where the existing paint or surface is chalking, flaking or rubbing off when touched — a common problem on weathered Irish walls and gables. The clear formulation soaks into the surface and dries to form a tough, near-invisible film that locks down the loose particles and creates a uniform base for the topcoat. Apply by brush to ensure the solution is worked into the surface texture; do not spray. Two coats are recommended on heavily chalking surfaces, allowing each coat to dry fully before recoating. Once the stabilising solution is dry, apply your chosen Sandtex masonry topcoat or compatible exterior wall paint as you would on a sound surface. Clean tools with white spirit immediately after use and store the tin tightly closed away from frost and heat sources. Work in dry, mild weather conditions and protect the surface from rain until fully cured.
