About this product
Description
Timco Corefix plasterboard fixings solve the problem of fixing into dot-and-dab walls — the most common wall construction method in modern Irish and UK new-build homes and commercial refurbishments. Where standard wall plugs fail because they sit in the adhesive cavity rather than the masonry, the Corefix anchor passes through the plasterboard, across the cavity, and locks against the masonry face behind, delivering a secure, load-bearing fixing point regardless of where you drill through the board.
Key features
- Specifically engineered for dot-and-dab plasterboard walls — bridges the adhesive cavity to anchor in the masonry behind
- 5.0mm diameter x 100mm length covers the combined plasterboard and typical dot-and-dab adhesive cavity depth
- Red nylon anchor body expands in the cavity to resist pull-out; zinc-plated steel screw provides the clamping force
- 4-piece pack — sufficient for a radiator bracket, shelf bracket pair or similar medium-duty application
- Timco CFX004T product code — a recognised solution used by professional dry-lining and fit-out contractors
In dot-and-dab construction, plasterboard sheets are bonded to the masonry block or brick wall using intermittent dabs of adhesive, creating a void of typically 25–50mm behind the plasterboard face. A standard wall plug inserted through this board sits either in the adhesive dab (hard point, but load-bearing strength is limited by adhesive bond) or in the void (no purchase whatsoever). These plasterboard fixings insert as a collapsed anchor, passes through the board and the void, and expands once through the gap to bear against the masonry face — giving a pull-out resistance comparable to a masonry plug directly into block.
The 5.0 x 100mm size is the standard specification for typical 12.5mm plasterboard on a standard dot-and-dab installation. Always check the actual plasterboard thickness and cavity depth before specifying the correct fixing length. For heavier loads such as boiler brackets, radiators or TV wall mounts on dot-and-dab walls, consult the manufacturer’s load rating and consider using multiple fixings per bracket point.
