Timco mixed cotter pins in zinc-plated carbon steel are the traditional mechanical fastener for the job. A cotter pin — also called a split pin — threads through a drilled hole in a bolt or clevis pin and bends back on itself to lock the nut or component in position. To install: select the correct size for the hole diameter, push through the drilled hole, spread the two legs apart in opposing directions and fold back against the washer or nut face. Never reuse a removed cotter pin — always fit a fresh pin after reassembly.
